This is regarding a parole hearing which is to take place on January 19, 2006. The attachment is very graphic in it's description of the murder. The inmate requesting parole, Billy Ray Adams #2604, a repeat offender, said, "I want to waste a cop. I have always wanted to waste a cop." That he did. The officer's name is Deputy F. Tom Settles. The legal system is again considering parole for his cold-blooded killer. It has already given him a free education.

Deputy Settles was murdered during a bank robbery on February 24, 1972. His family has had 34 years of parole hearings, in addition to the memories of how Tom died. Tom was shot in the leg and fell to the floor, his hand was shot off, he was shot in th face at point-blank range, and walked on. His murderer is not someone who needs to be freed.

The Settles family needs to get the word out to as many caring people as possible. I have been in contact with Marlene Giordano, Tom's sister, for a number of years. She is a victim's advocate. Through all her years of pain, she has found a way to help others. It is time for her and her family to receive support "in a big way." The Settles family needs some measure of peace. Please consider helping them through writing and submitting letters.

The Indiana Parole Board denied parole for Billy Ray Adams. This decision, each time it is made, honors Deputy Tom Settles who made the ultimate sacrifice in 1972.
